CBSE Board Exam 2020 Released: The exams were to take place from 1st July but SC has ordered to cancel the pending CBSE board exams 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The board will announce the result on the basis of students’ performance in the last 3 results (qualifying exams) and on the basis of internal assessment.

SG Mehta informed to Supreme Court that the board has filed an affidavit and they are taking into consideration the reports submitted by the states. In effect, the board took a decision to not conduct the board exams from July 1.
He further informed that CBSE class 10 exams have been canceled and class 12 board exams have been made optional. CBSE has a scheme in which marks scored by the student in the past 3 exams will be taken into consideration. The class 12 exams will take place as soon as the situation is conducive. Marks for the students who opt for the class 12 exams will have that marks as final.
It is the responsibility of the CBSE class 12 student to share their decision on whether to opt for the board exams at a later date or to accept the marks based on the three previous examinations scored by the student (3 previous exam = term papers + practical marks + pre-board marks). Supreme Court has directed CBSE to ensure that there is no confusion in the minds of the students and parents.

CBSE New Grading System
Since the decision to cancel the CBSE class 12 board exam has come out students are confused about the new grading system. So we decided to simplify the CBSE New Grading System which is as follows:
In each subject, it is mandatory to score 33% of marks to pass. Incase, there are practicals in any subject, students will have to score 33% marks in Practical Exam and 33% marks Theory Exam. The new CBSE grading system will follow a combination of internal and summative assessments.
CBSE Class 12th Pending Exams Cancelled
HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank released the full schedule of class 10 and 12 pending examinations on 18th May. However, the CBSE class 12th pending exams which were to take place from July 1 is now canceled.

The CBSE has decided that vocational exams (which very few students take) are to be held earlier – in mid/late February compared to March for most other exams.
More internal options
For core subjects, the number of internal choices (wherein students pick one to answer out of two) has increased.

The English (Core) paper of Class 12 has been modified in a bid to make it less ‘speedier’.
Changes for 2020 Exam for class 10
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct 2 separate exam for mathematics in class 10 board examination starting from 2020 session.
The current Mathematics exam is now Mathematics Standard, and an easier version of Mathematics has been introduced (called Mathematics Basic).
Students taking the latter version may not study Mathematics to any further level.
The option of choosing mathematics will be mentioned in the registration form for class 10 CBSE board examination.
Candidates will be required to select their choice of test while filling the registration form for CBSE Class 10 board examination 2020.
The measures introduced to effect this change are –
- Reduction in the number of questions
- More internal choices
- Increase in the number of objective type questions
- Reduction in subjective questions
- Introduction of internal assessment in all subjects.
“The internal choices will be implemented on 33 per cent of the questions for the students. The one-mark objective type questions will be around 25 per cent of the questions in all subjects.
Internal assessment will count for 20 per cent marks in subjects in which there is no practical assessment.
